Mummy MOT assessment

Mummy MOT

A comprehensive postnatal assessment, checking your core, pelvic floor and overall recovery. Recommended for every woman after birth.

The postnatal check-up you actually deserve

The standard six-week GP check is a wonderful thing, but it rarely includes a thorough assessment of your pelvic floor, abdominal muscles or posture. The Mummy MOT was designed to fill that gap.

Developed by women's health physiotherapist Maria Elliott, the Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal assessment that gives you a clear, honest picture of how your body is recovering after birth. It's not about rushing you back to exercise. It's about understanding where you are, addressing any issues early, and giving you the tools to recover well.

I'm a certified Mummy MOT practitioner, and I carry out every assessment with the same care, thoroughness and warmth that I bring to all my work.

Common questions

When can I have a Mummy MOT?

The assessment is recommended from six weeks postpartum, but it's never too late. Many women benefit from a Mummy MOT months or even years after giving birth.

Does it matter how I gave birth?

Not at all. The Mummy MOT is suitable for women who have had vaginal births, caesarean sections, or any combination. Each assessment is tailored to your individual experience.

What if I feel nervous about the internal examination?

That's completely understandable. The internal assessment is always optional and carried out only with your full, informed consent. We'll talk through everything beforehand and you're in control throughout.

How long does it take?

A Mummy MOT appointment is typically 60–75 minutes, giving us plenty of time for a thorough assessment and a full discussion of your results.
